The Knight Cancer Institute, and the Section of Palliative Care, Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology seek a skilled physician to develop a program in palliative psychiatry and psycho-oncology. The Section of Palliative Care is a robust academic teaching and clinical service with care delivery in the Supportive and Palliative Care Clinic at the Knight Cancer Institute. We seek a physician trained in psychiatry with additional fellowship training in hospice and palliative medicine to join our growing practice. The clinician will partner with the Department of Psychiatry in the delivery of psycho-oncology services for the Knight Cancer Institute, and integrate mental health clinical practice for the Supportive and Palliative Care clinical ambulatory service.
The duties of this position are in support of the missions, goals and objectives of OHSU and the School of Medicine and include: participate in the education of medical students and house staff in accordance with assignments to the department by the Curriculum Committee and Chair; participate in administrative committees and councils of the OHSU as approved by the Chair and Division Head; engage in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups with knowledge and consent of the Chair and Division Head.
It is anticipated your job will be made up of the following components: Clinical, Teaching Research/Academic, and Outpatient Service. This position will maintain both a palliative care outpatient practice, and serve as a practicing physician within the established psycho-oncology program. Position requirement is dual-board certification/board-eligibility in Palliative Medicine and Psychiatry.
Required qualifications:
MD, MD/DO, or MD/PhD
Licensed to practice medicine in Oregon
Board eligible/certified in Hospice & Palliative Medicine
Board eligible/certified in Psychiatry
Fellowship training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
Desire to deliver the best care possible to cancer patients in a clinical research environment
Must possess a proven track record of teaching, , clinical or population research and patient care excellence.
Preferred qualifications:
Proven success in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams
History of success in obtaining extramural funds for clinical trials and/or basic science research
