Job Description
Position Summary:
A clinical audiologist provides services for the prevention, identification, diagnosis, consultation, and rehabilitation to patients with hearing and balance disorders. The audiologist is responsible for administering diagnostic audiology tests and rehabilitative services. Diagnostic testing may include audiological assessments, vestibular assessments, cochlear implant assessments, immittance, otoacoustic emissions, and evoked potentials. Rehabilitative services may include cochlear implant programming, hearing instrument recommendations, selection and fittings, aural rehabilitation, and treatment for Benign Paroxysmal Positioning Vertigo.
Essential Job functions:
* Identifies hearing impairment(s)
* Completes a full evaluation for all patients
* Capable of performing all appropriate testing for patient condition at time of visit, ensuring all tests are performed
* Capable of performing the following tests appropriately: Tympanometry, Acoustic Reflexes, Reflex Decay, DPOAE (screening and diagnostic)
* Coordinates audiometric results with other diagnostic data
* Maintains an easily accessible and orderly file system
* Clearly and completely reviews all test results and recommendations with patient and family
* Recommends consultations with other professionals whenever appropriate
* Reviews all information and requirements associated with the purchase of a hearing aid
* Initiates and maintains close and frequent contact with other services and professionals attending to the patient
* Aware of when to inform supervisor or colleague of developments in case management, which might have an impact upon SMG
* Adheres to regular schedule of equipment calibration and safety checks
* Maintains clean and orderly work area
* Possess current knowledge of all technology
General Job functions:
* Provide appropriate recommendations with regards to management of hearing loss in applicable environments (i.e. school, home, nursing home, etc.).
* Manages care of tinnitus patients.
* Other duties as required.
Physical Job Requirements:
* Dexterity in hands and fingers.
* Endurance (e.g. continuous typing, prolonged standing/bending, walking).
* Physical strength to lift heavy objects, carts, or items, taking frequency into consideration
* Physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job, taking distance and speed into account
* Balance is maintained during climbing, bending and/or reaching.
* Pushing and Pulling, taking frequency and weight into consideration. This includes pushing wheelchair bound patients up a ramp into the booth, assisting patients with movements during VNG.
Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements:
* Master's Degree in Audiology or an AuD
* Current Oregon state Audiology license
* Current CPR/BLS within 60 days of hire.
* Prior experience with an EMR system
* 2-4 years' experience required. 5+ years preferred. Strong hearing aid background is preferred.
* Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
* Ability to use problem solving, critical thinking and priority setting skills.
* Ability to perform diversified duties with time limitations.
* Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
* Demonstrated skills in clinical interviewing.
* Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred.
* Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window based environment preferred.
